Valentines Day is around the corner and many of us will be putting together gorgeous outfits for the occasion - that includes rocking the perfect lipgloss. Whether you’re going on a cute one-on-one date or dressing up for a night on the town with friends, here’s how to tell if you’ve got your hands on a good quality lipgloss.
1. Observe the consistency
Nobody likes lipgloss that feels super thick and sticky upon application. Most of the time it’s not possible to tell if a lipgloss will have the right consistency, especially since we’re likely to buy products online. However, it’s a good idea to look out for indicators. For example, a matte lipgloss might have a drier consistency than a creamy lipgloss.
The good news is that all Fara Cosmetic glitter glosses and lustre lip glosses have a creamy finish, leaving you with plump, moisturized lips.
2. Make sure it smells good
A good quality lipgloss will be relatively long-lasting, which means you’ll want it to have a pleasant smell. Some brands describe the smell of their lipgloss on the packaging or their website. If not, look out for lipglosses that have ‘fragrance’ listed in the ingredients. And if you have a bit more time and money to spare, consider buying the lipgloss and giving a tester in time for Valentine’s Day.
You won’t be disappointed if you order a fragranced Fara Cosmetic gloss.
3. Check the ingredients
There are several key ingredients to look out for when trying to find high-quality lipgloss. Keep an eye out for natural ingredients like plant extracts, much like what can be found in our gloss range. We also recommend opting for lipgloss that doesn’t have an overload of parabens. These are the potentially harmful preservatives found in many of the most popular cosmetic products.
Here’s a list of parabens to avoid at all costs:
Enzylparaben, Butylparaben, Ethylparaben, Isobutylparaben, Isopropylparaben, Methylparaben and Propylparaben.
Fara Cosmetic glitter gloss is paraben-free, cruelty-free and vegan, so don’t even stress!
4. Choose the right shade
We’re spoiled for choice when it comes to lipgloss shades, so we don’t blame you if it takes a while to pick a shade. For Valentines Day, in particular, most people will opt for a pink and red lipgloss to stick with the theme. However, if you want to get your hands on a versatile lip gloss that will hold it down for the entire year, why not try a nude gloss?
5. Test if it’s long-lasting
Of course, you’ll have to wait until the lip gloss is actually in your possession to test if it’s long-lasting. But once you’ve got your hands on it, try it out a couple of times and see if you like it. A premium lip gloss will last at least 2 hours before re-application is required.
If you’re the type of person who likes to get into the Valentine’s Day spirit, we hope you enjoy it this year! Thank you for taking the time to read our lip gloss shopping guide. We hope you find the perfect product for your needs.
